Her father was the famous badminton player Praksh Padukone. She choose the career in acting and not followed her fathers field as a sports star. She acted her first film in Kannada in the year of 2006 and the movie is Aiswarya.
The same year she debuted in Hindi film industry with Mr. Sharukh, film name is Om Santhi Om. This film was her first box office hit and still remaining the biggest his in her entire film career. In 2009 she got another hit named 'Love aaj kal'. And in 2010 she has a big hit named 'Houseful'.
She is a good model also and she associated with some famous company like Sonny Cybershot, Tissot, Nescafe and Kingfisher etc.
